Professional Cockroach Pest Control Milwaukee WI

The cockroach is a household pest and prolific breeder, reproducing one casing with up to 55 eggs once weekly. It takes up to two months for the eggs to hatch. Each species of cockroach has a unique reproduction process. Some cockroaches reproduce more eggs that hatch in less time than other species.

Scientists think they have identified around 4,000 cockroach species. Only 30 of these species infiltrate human habitats, the remainder lives in public sewage systems, landfills, rotting wood structures, vacant buildings, and greenhouses.

Cockroaches start their lives as a tiny egg that hatches in one to two months and another six to 12 months to reach maturity. Again, reproduction is unique for each cockroach species.

German Cockroach Species

The German cockroach grows up to 5/8 of an inch in length, with The physical characteristics that set the German cockroach apart from the American cockroach are black lines that run parallel from the rear head plate to the wings.

Adult female German cockroaches reproduce hundreds of eggs within their lifetime. Each of the five capsules has a capacity of 30 to 40 eggs. German cockroaches infiltrate human habitats, hiding in electronics, appliances, garbage bins, and the home’s food supply.

American Cockroach Species

The American cockroach grows up to 2 inches in length, making it the larger of the two species. The nymph takes between six and 48 months to reach full maturity. This is the longest-living cockroach species. In controlled environments, the American cockroach can survive up to three years.

The Pennsylvania wood cockroach rarely, if ever infiltrates human habitats. In their natural habitat, the cockroach can be found around stagnant water, damaged wood siding, woodpiles, and piles of yard debris.

These cockroaches reproduce in their natural outdoor habitat, not after home infiltration.

The cockroach species str attracted to bright outdoor lighting.

Oriental Cockroaches

Oriental cockroaches are longer than an inch and they’re dark brown or black. Female oriental cockroaches do not grow wings, but males do. Male members of this species will have wings that cover three-quarters of their bodies. They share many traits with American cockroaches since they want to infest sewer systems and older buildings. Just remember that these cockroaches can withstand cold weather better. Therefore, they can be found outside feeding on feces and garbage.

Smokey Brown Cockroaches

These cockroaches are longer than an inch. You can identify them easily because they have a shiny reddish-brown hue. In general, this species can be found commonly in the southern portion of the United States. However, they will sometimes travel to our area. When they do, they’re going to hitch a ride in shipping containers. Adults develop full wings.

Surinam Cockroaches

At three-quarters of an inch, Surinam cockroaches are hard to ignore. They have light tan wings and a dark place on the back of their head. These cockroaches prefer warmer areas so you likely won’t find them around your Milwaukee home. If they are found in our area, they’ll hide in greenhouses and other buildings with potted plants. All of these cockroaches are female. They carry eggs and give live birth.
